Piracy termed a bane of economy
ISLAMABAD: A piracy free culture would be helpful for paying respect to intellectual property rights and developing a healthy atmosphere of economic development in the country.

Former minister and Chairman Intellectual Property Organization (IPO),Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi said this talking to newsman here on Monday.

He said that for boosting economic activities it is imperative to implement relevant laws and code of ethics.

He expressed his firm believe that Pakistan would be made a
competitive market for all business entrepreneurs by safeguarding their interests and protecting legal rights.

He informed that a number of initiatives are in progress for capacity
building of concerned officials and refresher course being conducted to update the knowledge of stakeholders.

Chairman IPO-Pakistan said that current critical economic conditions
need immediate attention and all matters relating to the trade and commerce sectors required to be resolved on priority.

He said these steps would be helpful to overcome the gigantic issues of poverty, unemployment, and backwardness by expansion of economic activities.

He lauded the role of Chamber of Commerce and Industries in national development and said all avenues would be explored to encourage industrialization in the country and favorable environment should be provided for increasing exports by safeguarding the IP rights.

Afridi said that trade and commerce in the backbone of our economy and if they should concentrate to develop business promotions infrastructure by involving all concerned segments of society, they can explore new avenues of job opportunities and investment in the country. (APP)
