The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are thought to record the telephonic calls of the royal family.

With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s friend Gayle King revealing that the couple "have documents to back up" their claims against the royal family, a royal commentator believes that this is "threatening" for the monarchy.

Speaking to Palace Confidential Richard Eden said that Prince William and other members of the royal family will have to be very careful when contacting the Sussexes.

"Another quite sinister comment from Gayle King was that Meghan has documents to prove everything that she said in the Oprah interview," he said.

"That was verging on threatening really. With that in mind, if I was Charles or William, I would be very wary of speaking to them."

Richard went as far as questioning the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of recording their telephonic calls and in turn advised that it would be best if the monarchy refrained from making contact that could add to the threat.

"Are they recording their calls?

"It certainly wouldn't surprise me with the detail that they're giving.

"Even if they're not recording, the fact they're going straight to friends.

"To be honest, if I was Charles or William, I wouldn't speak to her again until we can meet in person."
