LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party Punjab’s Parliamentary Party has, in principle, given approval to declare South Punjab a separate province, Geo News reported.
MPAs from People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q)have submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly for the same.
On the other hand MMA and Muslim League-Zia have already launched resolutions for the formation of Thal province and restoration of Bahawalpur province.
Over the last few sessions the provincial house has seen a great deal of commotion on dividing Punjab into smaller provinces.
Opposition leader in the Punjab House PPP leader Raja Riaz commenting on the issue said that a resolution with regard to declaring South Punjab a separate province would be presented in the house today (Monday).
