MUZAFFARABAD: A Pakistani man who was injured in unprovoked cross-border firing by Indian troops died at the hospital on Sunday, officials said.
Muhammad Waseem, who was wounded in Indian shelling at Muzaffarabad’s Chiri Kot sector on the Line of Control(LoC), succumbed to his wounds at the Combined Military Hospital in Rawalpindi where he was being treated for a bullet injury in his neck.
"A civilian Muhammad Waseem who was severely injured due to unprovoked firing by Indians on LoC in Chirikot sector yesterday (Saturday) has embraced shahadat (martyrdom) this morning," the ISPR said in a statement.
Abdul Raoof, a police official in the area, confirmed the incident and said that Waseem was grazing his cattle in his village when he was hit by a bullet fired by Indian troops.
India breached the 2003 ceasefire agreement last week as well, killing four Pakistani civilians in cross-border shelling near the LoC.
