Mary J. Bilge reacts on being compared to Taylor Swift

Mary J. Blige just revealed why she understands the comparison Flavor Flav made with respect to her writing style resembling Taylor Swift.

The Public Enemy crooner compared the two musicians' lyricism in an interview with HOT 97 earlier this year in January, saying they both write about relatable real-life experiences.

"I mean, I love Taylor Swift. She sings about what's going on in her life," the R&B icon told PEOPLE.

"It's kind of similar because she definitely gives you a piece of a relationship in a minute and whatever she may be dealing with. And that's just her therapy. That's just her way of expressing herself through her song, and people relate," the songstress added.

"It's definitely kind of the same thing," added Blige, who performed alongside Swift back in 2015 as a special guest on the famous 1989 World Tour.

For the unversed, Flavor Flav, has been a vocal Swiftie with his latest attendance being at the Detroit stop of the Eras Tour last year.

Explaining why he admires the Karma singer so much, he told HOT 97 earlier this year, "She’s writing a lot about her, you know, experiences that she goes through in life. Just like Mary J. Blige — you know what I’m saying?"
