Nadal remains fifth in rankings after final defeat

PARIS: Novak Djokovic comfortably retained his world No.1 spot in the ATP, as France's Richard Gasquet returned to the top 10 after winning his second tournament of the year at the Sud de France Open on Sunday.

Former world N.1 Rafael Nadal remains in fifth place despite reaching the final of an ATP event in Chile as the top four remain the same, with Roger Federer, Andy Murray and David Ferrer also standing in front of the Spaniard's comeback bid.

Argentina's Horacio Zeballos who was ranked 73rd in the world, denied Nadal a fairytale finish to his comeback tournament, rallying to hand the Spaniard a rare clay court defeat 6-7 (2/7), 7-6 (8/6), 6-4.

Croatian Marin Cilic won on home soil for the third time at the Zagreb Open by destroying Austrian Jurgen Melzer 6-3, 6-1 in just 67 minutes as he climbs to 12th.
