HYDERABAD: Indian bowlers restricted Australia to 237 for nine on the first day of the second Test here at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal on Saturday.
At close India were five for no wicket in their first innings after Australia captain Michael Clarke declared their first innings in a bid to grab wickets in the final moments of the day .
Clarke top scored with 91 and wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade scored 62 as no other batsman could make any significant contribution.
The first day of the Hyderabad Test was a seesaw affair, with India dominant in the first and final sessions, and Australia unshakeable in the second. After tea, India's spinners again proved too difficult to read for the visiting batsmen, and the home side reclaimed the advantage after Clarke and Wade had levelled the game with a century stand.
For India, left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja and pace-bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed three wickets each for 33 and 53, respectively while off-spinner Harbhajan Singh took two wickets.
