ISLAMABAD: The appointment of the caretaker prime minister is yet to be decided but the government and opposition are making headway in the matter. New nominees are under consideration after objections were raised over the earlier proposed nominees.
According to senior journalist/anchor and host of Geo New program ‘Capital Talk’, Hamid Mir there are five nominees being considered for the post which include Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Asma Jahangir, Raza Rabbani, Afrasiab Khattak and Ishaq Dar.
There has been no official announcement from any political party regarding the new nominees, however while speaking to Geo News, PPP leader Qamar Zaman Karia said that despite differences there would be no deadlock. “There is room for new names and we will take the process of dialogue and negotiations forward.”
Meanwhile, the ruling coalition has made preparations if the matter of the caretaker prime minister is sent to the parliamentary committee. The names for committee members have been finalised and include Khursheed Shah and Farooq Naek from the PPP, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour from the ANP and Chaudhry Shujaat from the PML-Q.
The PML-N is yet to finalise names from the opposition. According to sources, the PML-N is hopeful that the prime minister and opposition leader will reach a consensus by Monday evening.
