Prince Harry melted hearts with his kind gesture towards a victim of the Los Angeles fires after he and Meghan Markle visited the Pasadena Convention Centre to comfort the survivors.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex distributed food parcels, engaged with those affected and also consoled Mayor of Pasadena Victor Gordo.
Narrating a sweet incident of Harry, Gordo told Pasadena Star how the Duke surprised an elderly man with a donut during their visit.
He revealed that Harry approached an elderly bedridden man to ask if he would like a sandwich, water or snack from a food cart. “The gentleman said, ‘What I’d really like is a donut,'” Gordo revelaed.
“[Harry] says, ‘There’s no donut here, but I will find one.’ He takes off, and 10 minutes later, he returns with a donut,” he added. “The gentleman looks up and says, ‘I guess I need my carbs and my sugar.'”
He went on to reveal that the elderly man did not recognize Harry, who was dressed in casual attire and had a N-95 mask on, and told him, “If you ever run for anything, I’ll vote for you,” revealed the politician.
In a conversation with Fox 11, the mayor heaped praises on the duo for their efforts and said, “It’s great people, great personalities and great heart for them to come out here and meet with the first responders, meet with the people who were affected.”
Gordo shared that Harry and Meghan, who stepped down as senior working Royals in 2020, “really buoyed the spirits of the first responders.”
“They want to be as helpful as they can be … we visited with some of the affected families in some of the burned-out areas in Pasadena and Altadena,” he continued.
“They took the time to meet the people that are affected and spent time. They’re just very caring people who are concerned for their friends and neighbors.”
