Meghan Markle reacts as critics treat her ‘like garbage’ over relief efforts

Meghan Markle has had enough of the brutal criticism she is receiving since she and Prince Harry stepped out to console and help the victims of the deadly California wildfires.

In the wake of the LA wildfires, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted helping the survivors at the World Central Kitchen, where they served meals and connected with families.

However, their appearance met with severe backlash as critics as well as celebrities like Justine Bateman bashed them for using the victims for their “photo op,” with some labeling them "disaster tourists."

Now, a source close to the couple has revealed that Harry and Meghan are "stunned and appalled" by the criticism, adding that it has “deeply hurt” the Duchess, a California native who considers the city her home.

“Meghan is a California girl, so this is heartbreaking for her on so many levels,” the insider said. “Emotionally, they are very impacted by this, the collective pain and suffering that this city they both love is going through is devastating.”

“Meghan and Harry are stunned and appalled at the criticism they’ve endured over all this. It confirms what they already knew to a big extent, that they can’t win, no matter what they do,” they added.

“Their haters will always be out in force, finding any way possible to tear them down. For Meghan, especially, it cuts extremely deep and touches a major nerve," the insider added.

"This is her home city burning to the ground, she wants to help, and yet by doing that, she’s still getting treated like garbage."

The source further shared that Harry and Meghan could have easily left the town, however, they chose to drive for "two hours towards the fire to help out at the World Central Kitchen."

"They served meals to people that have been evacuated, they spoke with people and tried to offer some solace. It was exactly what you’d expect of Princess Diana’s son," the insider said.
