Eddington is the upcoming film of Pedro Pascal under the direction of Ari Aster.
At Cannes, The Last of Us star opened up about his forthcoming film, which takes place in 2022, during a turbulent time in America.
The logline of the film reads, “The movie takes place in May 2020 and is set in a small fictional town in New Mexico, where the local sheriff Joe Cross (Phoenix) decides to run against the charismatic and COVID-conscious mayor Ted Garcia (Pascal).”
“As Joe’s campaign intensifies, so does the pandemonium of the pandemic era with news coverage and social media posts stoking the flames of right-wing conspiracy, rising racial reckoning and protests against police brutality following the death of George Floyd," it added/
Marvel said his film’s director, Ari Aster, felt like a “whistleblower” about what was happening in the U.S.
He continued, “I’m so used to lenses on us from the outside, because there’s so many ways to view issues of politics, sociology, our very, very complex culture and and with Ari’s movie it felt like we had a mole, a whistleblower — someone on the inside being like, ‘This is what’s happening.'”
Along with Pedro, Eddington has cast Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Austin Butler, Michael Ward, and Luke Grimes.
