Miley Cyrus revealed that she dealt with a "traumatic" and "excruciating" health scare while co-hosting Miley's New Year's Eve Party special on NBC in 2023.
During an appearance on the latest episode of The Zane Lowe Show, the 32-year-old singer said that “I had a pretty traumatic experience on a show that I was doing with Lorne [Michaels] when I was doing my New Year’s show.”
“I had a medical emergency. I had an ovarian cyst rupture. We didn’t know exactly what was going on so we did it,” explained the Flowers hitmaker.
She added, “It was pretty traumatic because it was extremely excruciating and I did the show anyway. But it was really, really hard on me.”
In 2023, Miley hosted the NBC New Year's Eve celebration alongside Dolly Parton.
During the podcast, the Hannah Montana star revealed that she also considered stepping away from her music career, but luckily, she didn't after having a really impactful conversation with SNL creator Lorne Michaels.
“I had dinner with Lorne and he said something that now has stuck with me,” said Miley. “He goes, ‘Six months. Everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves and then we start to rebuild.'”
“He’s like, ‘You have no idea how many artists have sat in this chair and told me they were quitting music. Everyone does this, everyone has these traumatic experiences,” she added.
