Taylor Swift has officially been removed from the legal crossfire between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, as the actor’s legal team has withdrawn their subpoena seeking the singer’s testimony.
Earlier this month, Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, issued a subpoena for Swift, whose song My Tears Ricochet features in the film It Ends With Us, prompting a strongly worded rebuttal from her representatives.
According to Daily Mail, Swift’s team emphasized that she had no creative or production involvement in the film beyond licensing her track, just like 19 other artists.
As per the publication, the decision to withdraw the subpoena came after Swift’s response provided all the necessary information to Baldoni’s team.
In regards to this, the insider revealed, “They got exactly what they were seeking,” while claiming Swift’s denial of involvement contradicted claims made by Lively and helped expose alleged falsehoods.
Moreover, the controversy deepened when court documents revealed accusations that Lively and her legal team attempted to pressure Swift into publicly supporting her case, allegedly threatening to leak years of personal text messages if the singer did not comply.
Additionally, Lively’s representative responded to the dropped subpoena by accusing Baldoni and his team of harassment, praising Swift’s team for fighting back and vowing to defend others from similar “unjust threats.”
Swift, who is the godmother to Lively’s three daughters with actor Ryan Reynolds, was reportedly dismayed at being pulled into the dispute.
Furthermore, insiders told the outlet that Swift has since distanced herself from Lively, feeling she was used as leverage in a legal war she never consented to join.
