Michael Cera looks back at his 'rising' career

Michael Cera has earned a quiet reputation for portraying characters that were critically acclaimed.

His roles in Arrested Development, Barbie, and Juno, for example. But he credited the rise in his career to "dumb luck." While as an actor, he said his carefulness in spending helped him.

“I’ve always kind of lived [on] very little means in a way because I really like having freedom to say no to things," the actor said, adding,  “I kind of like time in between jobs."

The 36-year-old noted, “As an actor, you’re like a freelance person, and you never know what the next thing is, so you kind of have to make peace with that feeling of the unknown."

But now the Year One star said he is accepting more projects for this reason: he has a family to raise. "I mean, it’s insane, you go to buy, like, garbage bags and it’s like $50 now."

Michael has tied the knot to Nadine in 2018. The pair shares two kids.

Moreover, the actor has appeared in new Wes Anderson movie, The Phoenician Scheme. The film is running in theatres.
