King Charles has honoured Sir Billy Boston’s services for Rugby League on Tuesday.

The monarch has made a major decision knighthood during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

As per the pictures shared by the official Instagram handle of the royal family, Sir Billy became the first sportsman to receive knighthood for Rugby League.

The statement read, "Today at Buckingham Palace, Sir Billy Boston became the first sportsman to receive a knighthood for services to Rugby League."

"The King presented Sir Billy - who is considered one of the best Rugby League players of all time, scoring a British record of 571 tries and 488 appearances for @wiganwarriorsrl - with his insignia during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace," it further read.

The pictures showed Sir Billy’s excitement after being knighted to knighthood by King Charles. He was surrounded by his family when he received the honour, who also looked delighted.

Fans and followers flooded the comments section with one stating, "The look of pure joy on Billy’s face is just fantastic!"
