Busan International Film Festival’s Asian Cinema Fund’s selects 14 Projects

The Asian Cinema Fund (ACF), which is a funding organization under the Busan International Film Festival, has put forward its 14 selected projects out of 850 submissions which mark a 23% increase compared to last year.

The Asian Cinema Fund (ACF) is an important part of Asian cinema. It has three categories: The Script Development Fund, The Post-Production Fund and The Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Fund.

After a thorough evaluation, the ACF has awarded three films to the Script Development Fund, four to its the Post-Production Fund, and seven to the Asian Network of Documentary Fund.

According to Variety the organizers said, “bold visions and critical perspectives that showcase the evolving voice of contemporary Asian cinema.”

The Post-Production Fund, received 75 requests and out of which, Jeong Seung-o’s “Coming of Age,” Lim Junghwan’s “The Observer’s Journal,” Sanju Surendran’s “If on a Winter’s Night”and Chen Jianhang’s “The River that Holds Our Hands” got selected.

On the other hand, the Script Development Fund, received 478 submissions and out of which it selected Christine Haroutounian’s “Black Star Angel”, Eve Baswel’s “Heaven Help Us!” and Li Yingtong’s “New Life”.

Lastly, the Asian Network of Documentary Fund selected seven socially reflective documentaries. Among which are some international Documentaries like Neary Adeline Hay’s “Kampuchea” which reflects trauma from violence and Armin Septiexan’s “Oma” which is based on a person recovering from his past.

These documentaries will be showcased at the Asian Contents & Film Market at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center will held from 20-23 September, while The 30th Busan international Film festival will take place from 17th to 26th September at Busan Cinema center and 20th Asian Contents & Film Market.
