Jennifer Love Hewitt just revealed that it was Jamie Lee Curtis who paved “the way” for her to return to the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise.

The popular actress, who played the role of Julie James in the in the 1997 horror film and its 1998 sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, is set to reprise her role, almost three decades later in the upcoming 2025 installment, also titled I Know What You Did Last Summer.

She has joined the list of other iconic horror queens who have returned to franchises many years later such as Curtis returning to Halloween and Neve Campbell with Scream.

In a candid chat with Extra, Hewitt credited her House Arrest co-star, Curtis, for establishing a narrative that allows actresses to reprise their roles as legacy characters in horror revivals or reboots.

"I mean, Jamie Lee Curtis... paved the way for all of us to be able to do 119 of these and continue doing them into our 60s and still be bada**es," Hewitt praised.

"(Curtis) deserves all the credit. Like, it's so cool, and the rest of us just get to follow,” she added.

Hewitt also mentioned that she is "so psyched" for Campbell's comeback as Sidney Prescott in Scream 7.

"All the people in these franchises who are... coming back and doing these things. It's really cool," she noted.

It is pertinent to mention that I Know What You Did Last Summer, which is slated for a July 18, 2025 release, stars Jennifer Love Hewitt, her returning co-star Freddie Prinze Jr. and Madelyn Cline as well as Chase Sui Wonders, who are new comers.
