Rob McElhenney is changing his name to "Rob Mac."
For the unversed, the 48-year-old American actor and screenwriter went to the court in Los Angeles and legally filed a request to change his name to "Rob Mac."
Notably, McElhenney first opened up about his plan to change his name in a Variety cover last month and confirmed it to the same outlet on Friday, June 27 after TMZ's report.
While conversing at that time, the Game of Thrones star hinted that he might change his name and would opt for one with easier pronunciation by revealing, “People already call me ‘Rob Mac’ or ‘Mac,’ obviously from the TV show. It just makes things so much easier.”
Also, all the latest press releases of FX for both Wrexham and Sunny referred to him as “Rob Mac.”
In addition, McElhenney's new company, More Better Industries, has started investing more across the globe, such as buying two soccer teams in Colombia and Mexico and taking shares in clothing, alcohol, and tech companies, but what he came to realise was people found it difficult to pronounce his name.
Reflecting on his issue, the Mythic Quest actor said, “as our business and our storytelling is expanding into other regions of the world and other languages in which my name is even harder to pronounce, I’m just going by Rob Mac.” (sic)
“As I get older, and people are more prone to calling me ‘Mr.’ or’ Sir,’ I just say Rob or Rob Mac. And I find that that makes things a lot simpler and easier. People already call me Rob Mac or Mac, obviously, from the television show and it just makes things so much easier,” Rob McElhenney noted.
