Kelly Clarkson is slowly trying to navigate life after the loss of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

According to the latest findings of Star Magazine, the songbird's friends are urging her to take things one step at a time before diving back into her demanding career.

The Because of You singer has reportedly been “walking around in a thick fog” since Blackstock’s death.

As fans will be aware, at the age of 48 ,Blackstock died on August 7 at his Montana home, “surrounded by his family,” following a private three-year battle with melanoma, according to a statement shared with PEOPLE Magazine.

“She’s absolutely shattered and in no place to be performing on stage or hosting her show,” the source added and noted, “That may change soon, it’s a day by day situation.”

Amid her grief, Clarkson has been focusing on her children, whom she shares with Blackstock, namely River, and Remington, using whatever “small amount of energy” she has to protect and help her kids to recover from the tragic death of their father.

On the professional front, Kelly Clarkson took a big step and postponed the remainder of her August shows in her Las Vegas residency.

According to the source, she has asked “TV bosses and concert organizers for as much time as they can spare her” so she can manage the formalities, rest, and recuperate before returning to her busy career.

“It’s likely to cost her an absolute fortune due to all the costly postponements, but that’s the least of her troubles right now,” the source said.

“A big part of her would be happier quitting NYC and starting a whole new life in the countryside instead. She’s tired of the rat race and just wants to be a mom.”
