Robert Downey Jr. has finally addressed the theatrical clash between Avengers: Doomsday and Dune 3.

Both the much-anticipated movies are set to release on the same date that is December 18, 2026.

A video has been going viral on X, formerly known as Twitter, where the Iron Man actor can be seen sitting having a media interaction.

He was accompanied by the Marty Supreme star Timothée Chalamet, who will be leading the upcoming sci-fi adventure, Dune.

In the video clip, the 60-year-old legendary actor can be heard making a rare comment on the upcoming project clash.

“We both have films opening on December 18 and we have decided to coin a name for it”, he said. After taking a pause, Robert added, “We’re thinking of DUNSEDAY”

Later, he jokingly referred to Chalamet and remarked, “We’ll see if we remain friends by then.”

Directed by Russo brothers, Avengers: Doomsday is all set to reunite Robert with Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch and others.

On the other hand, Dune 3 also carries a very talented ensemble cast including Timothée along with Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Robert Pattinson, Rebecca Ferguson and Ida Brooke.

Fans have flooded the comment section with their reaction over the name chosen by the Marvel actor.

“DUNESDAY it is then. Two franchises, and one chaotic box office day”, wrote one.

Meanwhile, some think that “#dunesday will be 2026 version of #barbenheimer.”
