Elon Musk's social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has recovered from a short-lived outage and is now running fine after it affected thousands in the US.

While the micro-blogging site has started working fine, the cause of the outage has been unclear so far.

Previous disruptions with X have often been linked to broader outages, such as the Cloudflare one that took place in November.

Users inquiring through X's main press email address are typically receiving an automated response, with some even reporting getting a poo emoji or no reply at all.

Musk previously offered insights into what took X down, yet for the current state of affairs, he has not addressed thus far.

Recently, Christopher Stanley, an engineer working for Musk, shared a GIF of Elmo with his hands raised in the air, surrounded by flames, indicating a light-hearted take on the situation.

An hour before that, the same engineer simply posted the word "testing," suggesting some ongoing assessments.

For users wondering why X was not working, the experience was mixed, while some are still facing signs of instability.

Although it could be challenging to exactly determine when an outage is fully resolved, Downdetector showed that problems have significantly decreased from their peak.
