Steven Spielberg’s new sci fi film Disclosure Day has opened strong at the box office and quickly took the top spot.
The movie earned around like $19 million on its first day in North American cinemas and is now expected to make around $44 million in its opening weekend.
The story is about a meteorologist named Margaret Fairchild, which is played by Emily Blunt.
Her normal life changes when she gets pulled into a strange mystery involving possible alien life and a suspected government cover up.
The film also stars Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo and Wyatt Russell.
The film was made on a reported budget of $115 million, so it still needs strong ticket sales in the coming weeks to become a big financial success.
But the opening shows that audiences are clearly interested in it.
At the same time, other films are also doing just well in different ways. However, the horror film Obsession continues to perform strongly and is expected to have another good weekend.
Scary Movie is still holding steady, while Backrooms is also doing well because of its online popularity.
Moreover, Masters of the Universe has dropped a lot in its second weekend after a weak response from viewers and high production costs.
