Gracie Abrams ignites debate with new message to Paul Mescal's ex

Gracie Abrams appears to have taken the internet by the storm with her recent remarks about her present-boyfriend Paul Mescal’s ex-fiancee Phoebe Bridgers.

The 26-year-old musician sat down for a deep chat about her upcoming album, Daughter From Hell, which will be released on July 17.

In the interview, the Close To You hitmaker also touched upon her personal life, and celebrated the success of her peers in the music industry including Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, Lorde, and none other than Bridgers, which came as a surprise to some fans.

Given the Boygenius member’s complicated relationship history with Mescal, fans went spiralling over Abrams crowning her as the "songwriter of the generation", as they wrote, “Wait do you think they still talk despite the fact her man almost married Phoebe less than 5 years ago ….”

While others praised, “See how easy it is dismissing rumours,” and “I like that no woman wants Paul Mescal enough to fight another over him,” joked another.

One social media user noted, “dude just because the girl is with Paul doesn't mean she has to hate Phoebe, Gracie didn't get with Paul when he was engaged to Phoebe, they broke up in 2022 and Gracie started dating Paul in 2024 and by the end of 2022 Phoebe was already dating someone else.”

Despite their separate relationships with the Normal People star, Abrams and Bridgers seem to share a mutual appreciation for one another.
