Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce's early dating secrets finally revealed

Before the wedding bells-Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance had a surprisingly casual start.

Long before wedding plans and star-studded guest lists, the singer and the NFL athlete’s romance reportedly got off to a much less serious start.

Kelce famously tried to catch Swift’s attention during her Kansas City Eras Tour stop in July 2023 by putting his phone number on a friendship bracelet. It didn’t work immediately.

“She doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Kelce recalled on his New Heights podcast. “I took it personal.”

By September, reports claimed the pair had been quietly spending time together. But according to the Daily Mail, Kelce wasn’t rushing into a relationship.

“He wasn’t looking for anything serious – that’s for sure,” one insider alleged. “He was dating other people at the same time before they went public.”

Another source added, “He was definitely still dating around [in the beginning].”

The outlet also claimed Kelce viewed the friendship bracelet stunt as more of a joke than a grand romantic gesture. Multiple insiders further alleged he wasn’t always quick to reply to Swift’s texts.

“[He wasn’t avoiding her], but you’re not going to be pressed onto something if you’re not looking for something serious,” one source said. “He just wasn’t pursuing her heavily. He’s a football player!”

Another echoed, “Travis wasn’t looking for anything serious and once you get into the Taylor world, it’s instantly serious.”

Fast forward to today, and the couple are reportedly preparing to say “I do” over the July 4 weekend after getting engaged in August 2025. From a friendship bracelet that almost went nowhere to one of Hollywood’s most talked-about weddings, this love story certainly took an unexpected route.
