Taylor Swift thanks Alan Jackson for his 'support and encouragement'

Taylor Swift received a frosty reception at Alan Jackson’s farewell concert in Nashville over the weekend.

On Saturday, June 27, country music stars and fans packed Nissan Stadium to celebrate Jackson during his final concert. Swift was among those paying tribute, appearing in a pre-recorded video message that was met with loud boos from sections of the crowd.

Her words were barely audible as the reaction echoed throughout the stadium.

“Hey Alan, it’s Taylor. I just wanted to say thank you for your decades of unbelievable songwriting and your performances and the ways that you’ve given so much to us — the fans,” Swift, 36, began.

She went on to reveal that her favourite song Alan Jackson song was Drive (2002), saying its deeply personal storytelling was "an example that was so good for me to see at a young age."

“I appreciate you so much for the ways that you have just treated me and other artists and writers with such support and encouragement over the years. I am so excited for you doing this show and just appreciate you so much,” she concluded.

Other stars who were unable to attend the show also sent video messages, including Keith Urban and Zac Brown.
