Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick shared some insights into Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders opened on June 25.
Zelnick believes GTA 6 fans prefer the Ultimate Edition over the Limited Edition, priced at $79.79.
Zelnick, Take-Two Interactive, CEO, which is a parent company of Rockstar Games, appeared in a live interview on CNBC Squawk Box on Monday, August 10.
Zelnick revealed that GTA 6 fans are snapping up the pricier Ultimate Edition, priced at $99.99.
“Actually, it is skewing more to the premium edition. That might be a reflection of the fact that the most avid consumers are the ones who are pre-ordering now.”
GTA 6 pricing has long been a debated issue among the gaming community with divided opinions.
Some call it cheaper when compared with inflation rate, while others view it should have been lowered so it doesn’t feel heavy on the pockets.
Take-Two boss Zelnick during companmy’s Q1 2027 earnings call on Friday, August 7 addressed the controversy surrounding physical discs for GTA 6.
His response, however, highlighted one thing that is certain: Rockstar Games is also eyeing going digital-first in the near future after Sony announced scrapping of physical media in 2028.
“So in certain instances, especially if it’s a big game, discs just, and note I said discs, don’t really make sense for the customer.”
Rockstar Games last month announced the first GTA 6 gameplay ‘Extended Look’ to be premiered on Netflix on August 27.
Grand Theft Auto VI is slated for release on November 19, 2026.
