Prince Harry gets rewarded with Archie, Lilibet honour after difficult test

Prince Harry appears to have hit the final nail in the coffin for his once-beloved charity, which he founded in honour of his late mother Princess Diana.

The Duke of Sussex had to make the tough decision in March 2025 as he announced his exit as patron of Sentebale alongside co-founder Prince Seeiso and five trustee, following a reported boardroom battle.

The board chair Dr Sophie Chanduaka has made allegations of racism against Harry and the trustees. The investigations were conducted by a Charity Commission and found no wrongdoing. However, the messy publicised back-and-forth had only harmed the charity’s reputation and not the people involved.

It now seems that Harry has officially moved on from the heartbreaking chapter as he donated his Diana legacy funds to an African elephant charity instead of long-term recipient Sentebale.

Following the decision, Elephants Without Borders in Botswana named two of the elephants in its care after Harry and Meghan’s two children, Archie and Lili, in tribute for his support.

Founder Dr Mike Chase, who has known Harry for two decades, told The Telegraph that he was “deeply grateful for the support”.

“It means a great deal to us and to the elephants we are working so hard to protect,” he said.

“We wanted to pass on that legacy to the kids, in the hope that his passion for Okavango and Botswana would rub off on them, and to allow them to monitor the elephants in real time across the world.”
