Jelly Roll broke his recently announced hiatus to do a favour for an old friend.

On Monday, August 24, the country star — whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord — returned to guest host Jimmy Kimmel Live for four nights, just three weeks after announcing he will take a break from performing to focus on healing.

The multi-Grammy winner turned his opening monologue into a political set as he took multiple shots at President Donald Trump’s recent weight gain reports.

“Well, Mr. President, from one fat pig to another, take it from me that physical fitness is very important,” he said as he celebrated his own weight loss journey, having dropped around 300 pounds (136 kilograms) in recent years.

During Monday night’s show, the Save Me hitmaker also interviewed Glen Powell, who revealed that Jelly Roll has a small role in his upcoming film, The Comeback King.

Earlier this month, Jelly Roll announced a hiatus from performing “for a year or two,” weeks after he finalised his divorce from Bunnie Xo after 10 years of marriage.

“This has truly been a lifetime experience for me,” he said during his Big Ass Stadium Tour stop at Salt Lake City. “And in a couple of nights, I go to Colorado Springs and do my last show for a year or two.”

He further explained, “I’m fixing to take some time off and heal. Thank you for the opportunity.”
