Taylor Swift opens up about 'loneliness' while creating 'folklore'

Taylor Swift created a completely different, one of its kind album in 2020 called folklore, which ended up becoming a major testimonial for her songwriting skills.

The 36-year-old pop superstar was asked about the process of creating the album and exploring third person narrative writing during the Icon Session at the Grammy Museum.

While Swifties love and appreciate the record for the storytelling, genre-switching, and more reasons, the Opalite hitmaker stated that underneath the surface the album is rooted in the feeling of loneliness.

The 14-time-Grammy winner noted, “That album is really all about loneliness, if you kinda delve into certain lyrics on songs like peace, or hoax, or exile it's really about feeling so completely alone.” 

Swifties shared the clip on social media and flocked to react, writing, "She took the isolation we all felt and turned it into something we could share. Still hits so hard."

Referring to her then-relationship with Joe Alwyn, another wrote, "Being lonely while being in a relationship is also so draining and you can feel that raw emotion in this album," and "It makes it worse that she was in a 5 year relationship at the time. She was so alone during COVID huh."

More chimed in, "I can't remember why folklore saved me in 2020 but it did," and "literally and her best album !"

Someone gushed, "PEACE, HOAX, EXILE MENTIONED IN 2026?!?!?!?!" and "Greatest album of the 21st century," declared one.
