Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet could be able to meet their cousins very soon and one royal can make it happen.
Prince William and Prince Harry are estranged and haven’t had any contact since years and the rift between the two brothers is too deep to be healed over a matter of days or weeks.
However, Princess Catherine believes that the children shouldn’t suffer the consequences of their father and uncle fighting. Aunt Kate is “so excited to see Archie and Lilibet” and she plans to “take the lead and make it feel natural and friendly for the children”.
Kate and William have been consistent in prioritising the children’s wellbeing, and they both agree that there is no point in hiding the truth from the children. A source cited by Woman’s Day revealed that Prince George and Princess Charlotte are old enough to know what’s going on.
A source told the outlet that the Waleses know it’s going to be “awkward” for George, Charlotte and Louis “to have their cousins so close and not see them”.
“Kate would never do anything behind William’s back, but she’s been a key peacemaker between William and his father – and she expects this will be the same,” the insider shared.
“She wants to arrange with Harry – no Meghan or William, to keep the temperature down – for the cousins to meet, just for a couple of hours. Something extremely low-key and private at a neutral location, like a trusted friend’s estate.”
The insider insisted that the point of Kate “facilitating” would mean that the meetings are purely about the children meeting and spending time together. The first few meetings will not have William and Meghan under the same roof to avoid tensions.
Moreover, George and Charlotte “won’t disappoint anyone with their excitement about meeting their cousins”.
