Meghan left William and Kate speechless over 'religious' habit

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are back in the UK after six years but their love story remains one of the most talked about chapters in recent royal history.

When Harry first introduced the idea of a new girlfriend to his family, he was reportedly unsure how Prince William and Princess Kate would react.

In his 2023 memoir Spare, he recalled the moment he told William and Kate that there was “a new woman” in his life during a dinner together.

The then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had apparently already sensed that something was going on and immediately wanted to know more.

“Who is she?” they asked eagerly.

Harry initially tried to keep the details under wraps before eventually offering a few clues.

“She’s an actress.” 

“Oh?”

“She’s American.”

“Oh.”

Harry then revealed that Meghan starred in the hit legal drama Suits.

According to Harry, William and Kate’s mouths “fell open” before they exchanged a look. William then reacted with a colourful exclamation that left Harry momentarily baffled.

Harry wrote that William and Kate confessed they were not simply casual viewers of Suits but “regular - nay, religious - viewers” of the show.

Any fears Harry may have had about his brother and sister-in-law welcoming Meghan into the family were suddenly replaced by a rather different concern.

“I’d thought Willy and Kate might not welcome Meg into the family,” the Prince recalled, before joking that he now had to worry about them “hounding her for an autograph”.
