Queen Camilla and Macron's courteous exchange catches eyes

A small gesture between Queen Camilla and President Emmanuel Macron is getting a lot of attention as the French leader and his wife joined King Charles and the Queen at the British Museum on Wednesday.

Video footage showed President Macron gently placing a hand on Camilla's back as the royal and presidential couples arrived for the unveiling of the Bayeux Tapestry.

The moment came as the two nations gathered to celebrate the extraordinary journey of the 70-metre medieval masterpiece, which has travelled to Britain for the first time in almost 1,000 years.

In one picture Queen’s stole the spotlight during welcoming Macrons to Britain.

King Charles and the President travelled together to the museum in the State Bentley, while Camilla and Brigitte Macron followed in a separate car. 

The two couples were later seen entering the museum, with Emmanuel and Brigitte walking hand in hand behind the King and Queen.

Inside the museum, King Charles reflected on the remarkable history shared by Britain and France through the tapestry. 

Speaking in both English and French, the King described its story as one of “ambition and uncertainty”, tracing a tale of journeys, kings, councils and consequences.
