Zara Tindall's big family day out as Peter and Harriet lead royal support

Zara Tindall found herself with plenty of familiar faces cheering her on from the sidelines at Burghley Horse Trials.

The Olympic silver medallist was joined at the prestigious Lincolnshire event by her brother Peter Phillips and his new wife Harriet Sperling, as well as their father, Captain Mark Phillips, and his partner Florence Standaert.

Peter and Harriet, who married in June, looked every inch the newlyweds as they walked around the grounds together, exchanging smiles and holding hands during the second day of the four-day event.

Peter kept things casual in navy trousers, a shirt and gilet as the couple joined his sister in one of the biggest fixtures on the British eventing calendar.

Burghley has long been a natural setting for the Tindall family, with Zara returning year after year as a serious competitor rather than simply a royal spectator. 

Just weeks ago, Zara secured her first major championship title in almost two decades, winning the British Open Championship at Hartpury aboard her 17-year-old gelding Class Affair. 

The pair finished on 33.3, beating a field of 73 competitors in the prestigious event.

Princess Anne is also expected to join the family at Burghley on Sunday, when she will attend in her role as President of World Horse Welfare and President of the British Eventing Support Trust.
