Sandra Bullock recalls working with Betty White on 'The Proposal'

Sandra Bullock is looking back fondly on her time working alongside the late Betty White on 2009's The Proposal, describing the experience as everything she'd hoped it would be. 

Appearing on Kylie Kelce's podcast, Bullock reminisced about the film, which also starred Ryan Reynolds, recalling the now-famous scene in which White's character grabs Bullock's chest, along with anecdotes about White's remarkable professionalism during difficult shooting conditions.

Bullock's warm recollections echo sentiments shared by other Proposal cast members over the years. 

Actor Denis O'Hare, who played the film's immigration agent, has similarly praised working alongside White, saying, "Working with Betty White was everything I'd dreamed it would be. She was funny, quick quick quick with just the right flick of intonation to land a jeweled, barbed joke, all with a smile." 

Co-star Malin Akerman has credited White's "unbreakable and infectious positivity" as one of the best parts of the shoot, while Oscar Nuñez recalled White's steady presence even as exhaustion set in during long shoot days, saying her example pushed him to keep his own complaints in check.

White, a five-time Emmy winner whose career spanned more than six decades, brought her signature comedic timing to the role of Grandma Annie in The Proposal, a performance widely regarded as one of the film's standout elements. 

She died in 2021 at age 99, and would have celebrated her 100th birthday in January 2025. 

Tributes to White's warmth and wit have continued to resurface regularly in the years since her death, with Bullock's latest comments joining a long list of cast and colleagues reflecting on what made her so beloved both on set and off.
