KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Saturday came up with an explanation to Altaf Hussain’s last night speech delivered in Hyderabad by telephone, saying the party supremo didn’t speak of Sindh’s division.
Addressing a press conference, MQM’s senior leaders Farooq Sattar and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui took an exception to the strong reaction coming from political and other circles following Altaf Hussain’s speech.
Siddiqui said that Hussain didn’t demand Sindh’s division instead he called for just distribution of resources among the people of Sindh.
Dismissing hue and cry over Altaf Hussain’s speech, he said that the MQM supremo started his speech with “if” and told the ruling class to work out a solution to the miseries Urdu speaking Sindhi were facing.
He said the MQM supported Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) due to its love for Sindh. Speaking on the occasion, Farooq Sattar said that the provincial government is behaving like a stepmother to the MQM.
He said that hatred was being seeded instead of love and harmony, adding that Altaf Hussain got Sindhis and Balochis elected from Azizabad. He questioned as to how many Urdu Speaking Sindhis were given ticket in Larkana and Khairpur.
He said that Hussain demanded the Urdu speaking Sindhis be accepted as citizens of the province wholeheartedly.
