Sophie laughs off luggage delay before heading into Zambia's wild

The Duchess of Edinburgh has taken her Zambia tour into the heart of the country’s wilderness, visiting a conservation base camp and meeting the women working on the frontline of wildlife protection.

On the third day of her visit, Sophie toured the base camp of Conservation Lower Zambezi (CLZ), a non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting Zambia’s wildlife and natural resources. 

During the visit, she met female patrol officers from the Kufusza Rangers Team and learned more about their work safeguarding the region’s wildlife.

HELLO!’s Jack Malvern accompanied the Duchess during her visit and has shared some of the memorable moments from the tour.

The Duchess’s luggage was delayed after her arrival, meaning she had to attend her first engagement in what she jokingly described as her “aeroplane clothes”. 

The wardrobe mishap, however, did little to affect the warm welcome waiting for her at the British High Commission, where dancers performed for the royal guest.

During a meeting with President Hakainde Hichilema, discussions ran beyond their scheduled time, while an unexpected encounter with zebras happened.
