Prince Edward follows William and Kate with another royal mission

The Duke of Edinburgh joined young volunteers and local community groups for a litter pick to mark World Cleanup Day.

Prince Edward was spotted in the clean-up with the Spelthorne Litter Pickers Group as part of an initiative organised by the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.

The Duke, who serves as Patron of the organisation, joined local Award participants and young people for the community effort, helping to clear litter while encouraging the next generation to get involved in volunteering.

Sharing photographs from the event on Instagram, the Royal Family reflected on seven decades of young people making a difference in their communities.

"70 years of young people giving back to their communities is something worth celebrating," the caption read, before highlighting the global participation in World Cleanup Day.

The post continued by thanking the young people and community groups who took part, as well as everyone around the world who has volunteered through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award over the past seven decades.

The outing comes shortly after another environmental engagement by members of the Royal Family. 

Prince William and Princess Kate recently visited the Isle of Bute, where they took part in a beach clean-up during their visit to the Scottish island.
