Jay-Z receives apology from woman who accused him and Diddy of raping her

The woman who accused Jay-Z of sexual assault has fully recanted her allegations, admitting she never met or spoke to the rapper.

In a declaration filed in Manhattan federal court on Thursday, September 24, Jane Doe wrote, “Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct toward me whatsoever.”

“There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr. Carter,” she continued. “I understand my false accusations have caused Mr. Carter immense pain, suffering and damage that can never be fully undone.”

Doe had named Jay-Z, 56, and Sean “Diddy” Combs in a 2024 lawsuit, alleging she was raped at age 13. Both men denied the allegations, and Doe later withdrew the lawsuit.

Her new lawyer, James Blair Newman Jr., said Doe still maintains that she was sexually assaulted but was mistaken in identifying Carter.

“Mr. Carter did not rape her, sexually assault her, engage in any inappropriate conduct towards her, and she has never met him,” Newman said. “She sincerely and unconditionally apologizes to Mr. Carter and his family.”

Doe also said she was not promised or given compensation for her new declaration.
