NYPD arrests two men seen emerging from NYC manhole: details inside

The New York Police Department has confirmed the arrest of two men who they believed were seen emerging from a manhole, exiting the city’s underground sewer system on Wednesday, September 23.

The NYPD has released the identities of the two men arrested as 26-year-old Kevin Rodriguez and 25-year-old Samuel Reveron.

Both men were charged with conspiracy and trespassing.

The pair were linked to the latest sewer incident, in which men were spotted climbing out from underground near East 61st Street and Park Avenue at around 1:38 a.m. on Wednesday, per a criminal complaint.

At around 4 a.m., “the individuals were observed getting back into the vehicles and driving in tandem over the Queensboro Bridge, altering the automatic license plate readers as to the vehicle’s VIN and license plate numbers,” the complaint said.

According to the court record, Reveron and Rodriguez, the owners of the vehicles, both “identified themselves as the individuals that entered the manhole” early Wednesday morning.

The authorities detailed what they were after, saying they were on the lockout for “valuables that get washed away in the storm drains and sewers.”

However, Reveron and Rodriguez have not been charged for the previous incidents of sewer breaking, but NYPD officials believe that Wednesday’s incident “fits that same criteria” that points to the same method employed for unauthorized sewer entries.

A few months ago, there were reportedly two incidents of men recorded on video cameras surfacing from New York City sewers.

The underground visitors, not linked with any public works staff, were spotted climbing out of manholes in multiple Brooklyn neighborhoods in late May, per NBC News.

During a hearing on Friday, September 25, the two men pleaded not guilty and were released from custody, court records show.
