Prince Harry finds common ground with European commissioner during meeting

Prince Harry has been praised for his work on sustainable travel after meeting a senior European official in New York to discuss the future of tourism.

Apostolos Tzitzikostas, the European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, shared photos from their meeting on X on Saturday.

Alongside the images, Tzitzikostas revealed that he and Harry had found common ground over their shared ambition to ensure local communities and destinations benefit from the industry.

"Glad to meet Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Founder of @Travalyst, in New York," he wrote.

He continued: "We share a common ambition: making tourism more sustainable while ensuring destinations and local communities benefit."

The meeting comes as the European Union works on its first European Sustainable Tourism Strategy.

"Partnerships like the one with Travalyst can help turn ambition into action and strengthen cooperation beyond Europe’s borders," he added.
