Lisa chokes up during emotional VMA acceptance speech

Lisa breaks down in tears after historic Video Music Awards win.

The Blackpink star took home the Best Pop award at the 2026 MTV VMAs.

She received the Moon Person trophy for her solo track Dream featuring Kentaro Sakaguchi.

This accolade marks the first time an Asian solo artist has won the Best Pop category in VMA history.

A short clip shows the K-pop sensation on stage in a black outfit with large white feathered/fringed sleeves, holding the Moon Person trophy.

She appears emotional while smiling and covering her face before greeting the crowd. The Thai rapper said, “Sawatdee kha, everyone.”

“Thank you, MTV, for this amazing award,” she expressed gratitude before thanking her collaborators on the song.

“All those late-night dreams brought me here today, so thank you for the inspiration, especially to my Lilies — I wouldn’t be here without you guys,” Lisa, 29, added, while delivering parts of speech through tears. “Thank you so much for your love and support.”

Moreover, during the ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, on Sunday night, September 27, the Rockstar songstress also made a historic live television debut performance of her new single SaWaDiKa from her upcoming EP Press Play.
