Prince Harry joins NATO talks on ambitious new support network

Prince Harry has continued his work supporting wounded and injured veterans in Ukraine.

The Duke of Sussex, who is Patron of the Invictus Games joined a NATO Military Committee meeting remotely on Thursday to discuss plans for expanding the Invictus community across the country.

Alongside was Invictus Games Foundation Deputy CEO Richard Smith and Chief Programmes and Strategy David Wiseman.

The discussion centred on the foundation’s Signature Programme for Ukraine and its plans to establish 21 Invictus Recovery Spaces across the country by 2027.

Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chairman of Committee, welcomed Harry during the virtual meeting, having previously met representatives from Invictus during a recent visit to Kyiv.

He said he had been impressed by their “clear vision and genuine commitment” to people who had carried the heaviest burden of service.

The talks also explored how sport could become a bigger part of a growing network of veteran hubs, giving former service personnel opportunities to connect and find support alongside others.

Admiral Cavo Dragone described the meaning of “Invictus” - unconquered, as a reality for people in Ukraine, stressing the shared values between NATO and the Invictus movement.

He said that support for military personnel should not end when they leave the armed forces, emphasising the importance of ensuring veterans have access to help as they adjust to life beyond service.
