PESHAWAR: Six people were killed when a blast ripped through a car workshop in the Scheme Chowk area of the city.

Nine people injured in the blast were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital. Doctors at the hospital informed the media that three of the injured were in critical condition.

The guard of the workshop revealed to Geo News that the blast was a result of a car packed with explosives. The guard said the car had been brought by a person named Ghani to the shop two days ago. "The blast took place when a policeman was having the parts of this car replaced into his."

The intensity of the blast was so severe that it left a large crater on the spot and destroyed five vehicles.
