WASHINGTON: US State Department Wednesday made it clear that those Pakistani Taliban who were involved in attacks on Americans/Afghans were not welcome to truce talks, Geo News reported.
Mark Toner, US State Department spokesman, said this a day ahead of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar meeting.
Toner, during a daily briefing, added that secretary of state in her visit to Pakistan had asked Islamabad to act against those militant groups who had been perpetrating attacks on US and allied troops in Afghanistan.
He also clarified that Afghan president Hamid Karzai’s inviting Taliban for direct talks was not an outcome of Kabul’s estrangements with Washington.
On Khar-Clinton talks, he said that a host of critical issues would come to table during the meeting.
