KARACHI: The paramedical staff staged a protest outside Karrachi Press Club and tried to reach Governor House but they were intercepted by police who used water cannon and tear gas to disperse the protesters, Geo News reported.

According to sources, the nurses protested in front of Karachi Press Club and demanded of the government to regularise their services.

Nurses tried to reach the Governor House which is located in the red security zone and were stopped by the police present at the scene. Upon resistance, police resorted to open water cannon and tear gas to disperse the protesting paramedical staff in a bid to stop them from reaching the Governor House.

Police also baton charged the crowd, injuring several protesters, sources added.

Due to the protest, traffic on surrounding roads was severely disturbed.
