Ephedrine case: Abbasi, Hafeez get extension in bail

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has extended the interim bail of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Hanif Abbasi and former director general of health Dr Asad Hafeez for two weeks in the ephedrine import quota scandal case on Wednesday, Geo News reported.

The High Court bench heard the petitions pertaining to the interim bails. The director legal of Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) told the court that it is important to arrest Hanif Abbasi for the investigations and sought his physical remand for the same purpose.

During the hearing, Justice Sagheer Qadri passed critical remarks over the performance of the ANF prosecutor.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing till October 17.

It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court has extended the interim bail of the main accused including Textile Industry Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin and former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani’s son Syed Ali Musa Gilani in the ephedrine case till October 11.
