ISLAMABAD: The government, during a meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, has again made it clear that the Rs12 million was allocated for Ministry of Information’s secret fund, Geo News reported.
The committee met under the chair of Senator Kamil Ali Agha here on Thursday.
Denying misuse of the said fund, Federal Minister for Information, Qamar Zaman Kaira held on to his stance that reports claiming an amount of Rs4 billion was allocated for the secret fund were groundless.
“From Rs12 million allocated only Rs3 million is withdrawn every month that too through a formal sanctioning procedure”, said he.
On the other hand the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Senator Pervaiz Rashid termed the government’s policy for awarding advertisements as nepotistic.
“Awarding government ads unmeritoriously was tantamount to misappropriation of public funds”, said he during the meeting.
