NA body displeased over FIA's NICL probe

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on trade and commerce met Khurram Dastagir in the chair on Wednesday, Geo News reported.

The committee expressed dissatisfaction over the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) report into the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam probe.

The committee said it seemed there was no accountability in the country as no action was taken against bigwigs, involved in corruption while their employees were held.

The body sought the FIA report and a list of all those involved in the NICL case. During the meeting, FIA officials told that 13 out of 17 accused in NICL case had been granted bails while those booked in Punjab were employees of Moonis Elahi, an MPA and a son of Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.

The NA body also took notice of incessant absence of Commerce Minister Amin Faheem from the meetings of the committee.
