Parliamentary panel rejects JC recommendations

ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment on Monday dismissed recommendations of the Judicial Commission for confirmation of two Additional Judges of the Sindh High Court.


Talking to media after presiding over the committee meeting, senior PPP leader Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan said the parliamentary body opposed the recommendations, as both the judges Justice Nadeem Akhtar and Justice Shafi Muhammad Siddiqui were tax defaulters.

He said there should be same standards of disqualification for politicians and judges on the basis of tax evasion. Ahsan also called for more empowerment of the parliamentary committee.
