ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has said that it was a positive sign that no political party was boycotting general election in Balochistan .
The court, however, stressed the need to stop illegal activities in the province. In an order issued during the hearing of Balochistan law and order case, the apex court expressed the hope that the polling process would be completed in a peaceful atmosphere.
During the course of hearing, Shahid Hamid, counsel for Balochistan government presented three reports by the chief secretary, deputy inspector general CID and the provincial government.
The lawyer told the court that all the political parties had announced to contest the upcoming general election and Bugti family had also filed nomination papers for the purpose.
He told the bench that as many as 18000 claims were submitted by the displaced people of Dera Bugti for compensation, adding that Rs136 million were issued by the government for the purpose.
The lawyer further told the court that 13 missing people from Balochistan had returned to their houses while 54 cases were still pending. He said that assistance of federal agencies was sought for the recovery of the missing persons.
